The management office of Sun Peak Garden Phase 2 issued a notice to residents, saying that due to the black rainstorm warning signal, rainwater from the slope poured into the electric switch room of the housing estate, causing a power outage in the entire housing estate. The management office arranges lunch boxes, bread and bottles of water for residents. New Democratic Party legislator Lee Tsz-king went to housing estates on Friday night to deliver supplies. He later posted on social networking sites: “Although every building has to go up dozens of stairs, the volunteers don’t feel hard at all!”

Residents informed the management office that power supply to three of them may be restored today.

There are seven buildings in the second phase of Xinfeng Garden. Except for the eighth building, which is 11 stories high, the other six buildings are 12 stories high. Resident Ms. He told “Independent Media” that after the power outage on Thursday night, she called the management office to understand the situation. The other party responded at that time that it might be affected by heavy rain. She later saw in the Facebook residents’ group that some residents said they suspected that the meter room had exploded. After getting up on Friday, they found that the power had not been restored. Later, she saw the notice from the management office in the residents’ group.

Ms. He said that she had evacuated to her family’s residence on the same day. She said that some neighbors kept “carrying water” all day long on Friday, and others went to the clubhouses in other phases of Xinfeng Garden to take baths.

Regarding some residents who quoted CLP staff as saying that it may take a week to drain the water from the power supply equipment room, Ms. He said that she had inquired with the management office on Friday night and said that an engineering company had been arranged to carry out emergency repairs. Blocks 6, 7 and 8 or Power supply is expected to be restored on Saturday (9th).

CLP: The power supply equipment room was affected by flooding and power supply could not be restored.

Regarding the power outage in the second phase of Xinfeng Garden, CLP responded to the “Independent Media” inquiry and stated that the power supply equipment room was affected by flooding, so the power supply could not be restored. A CLP spokesperson said that its personnel are providing the necessary technical support and are in close contact with the property management company of the housing estate, hoping to restore power supply as soon as possible.

In addition, the Water Supplies Department responded to the Independent Media’s inquiry on Sunday, saying that according to the department’s understanding, due to a failure in the power supply system of Sun Peak Garden Phase 2 in Tai Po, the water supply system and water pumps inside the housing estate stopped operating. The Water Supplies Department stated that after learning of the situation, it immediately provided temporary drinking water to the housing estate, including water tankers and water tanks, and would continue to closely monitor the water supply situation in the housing estate and provide support to residents.
